AdvoKids IEP Meeting Norms

Hey AdvoKids families! As we head into an IEP meeting, it's important to ensure that everyone’s on the same page and working together for the benefit of your child. These norms will help guide the conversation, ensuring that it remains productive, respectful, and focused on what matters most: your child’s success!

  1. Focus on the Child’s Best Interest: We will keep all discussions and decisions centered on what is best for the child.
  2. Engagement from All Members: Each team member will be actively involved and engaged throughout the meeting.
  3. Breaks Available for Everyone: Any team member may request a break if needed.
  4. Timeliness: We will aim to complete the meeting within the agreed time frame.
  5. Assume Positive Intent: We will approach all contributions with the assumption of positive intent.
  6. Listen to Understand: We will listen to each team member’s perspective and allow them to finish before responding.
  7. Mutual Respect: We may not always agree, but we will demonstrate respect in all our words and actions.

Remember, this is a partnership to ensure your child’s success. We are here to listen, collaborate, and work toward the best possible outcomes for your family.

Much love,

Mindy
